You are cordially invited to SATA 2025, the 59th Meeting of the Subsonic Aerodynamic Testing Association, hosted in San Jose, California by the USAF Arnold Engineering Development Complex’s National Full-Scale Aerodynamics Complex (NFAC). The event will take place from June 9 – 12, 2025 at the Hyatt Place San Jose/Downtown hotel. We are excited to welcome everyone to a premier technical meeting focused on the subsonic wind tunnel community’s latest innovation and technology.

Technical Meeting (June 9 – 12)

  • Early bird registration opens 2/21/2025 and closes 3/14/2025

    • Cost $1200 USD

  • Standard registration opens 3/15/2025 and closes 4/25/2025

    • Cost $1400 USD

  • Honorary registration opens 2/21/2025 5 and closes 4/25/2025

    • Cost $950 USD

  • Registration includes a Sunday evening reception, lunch on all meeting days, transportation for meeting-organized visits to local wind tunnel facilities, a group dinner, and a dinner banquet

  • SATA 2025 presentation submittals are due April 25, 2025; additional information on presentation guidelines and submissions can be found at www.sata2025.com/technical-meeting

Foreign National Visitor Information

NFAC Tour - Visitor Pass Access Required at NASA Ames Research Center

  • NFAC will initiate a visitor pass request on your behalf for limited access to NASA Ames for the day of the group tour.

  • All visitors will be pre-vetted for a National Crime Information Center (NCIC) security check.

  • For visitor pass purposes, when providing your name, use your legal name exactly as it’s printed on your legal documents (First – Middle– Last). Name must exactly match all documents presented as ID.

  • On the day of the NFAC tour, original documents must be presented at the NASA Ames Visitor Center prior to being issued a NASA Ames visitor pass.  The documents presented must be the same documents that were used to create your visitor pass.

  • Copies of driver’s licenses, passports and visas stored on phones will not be accepted. Digital copies (on mobile phones) of ESTAs are acceptable if they show the registration number and expiration date.

  • DoD Common Access Card (CAC) holders are not exempt from registering for a visitor pass.   

U.S. Citizens, Legal Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders), and U.S. Dual Citizenship Holders

  • You will receive an email from NASA Ames shortly after the SATA 2025 registration end date of 25-April.  Follow the instructions contained in the email as soon as possible. Check your spam folder if you do not see the email from NASA Ames; reach out to SATA2025.attendance@gmail.com if you still cannot find the email.

  • You must provide your unexpired state driver’s license number or unexpired passport number as a form of identification when replying to NASA Ames by email.   A driver’s license is the preferred ID to request access. You will need to present the original ID on the tour date to receive a visitor pass for access.

  • Legal Permanent Residents/Green Card holders are required to present their original green card on the day of the tour along with additional documentation if instructed by NASA Ames.

Foreign Nationals

  • You will receive an email from NASA Ames shortly after NFAC receives your SATA 2025 registration. It’s important to watch for emails from NASA Ames and respond within 7 days of the email. Check your spam folder if you do not receive an email from NASA Ames; reach out to SATA2025.attendance@gmail.com if you still cannot find the email or if you require assistance.

  • Foreign Nationals must provide a valid passport and visa or ESTA as identification, valid on 6/10/2025. You are required to upload them into the visitor pass system and present the original documents on the day of the tour. Digital copies (on mobile phones) of ESTAs are acceptable if they show the registration number and expiration date.

  • If you receive an email from NASA Ames requesting documents and need additional time to obtain them, please email SATA2025.attendance@gmail.com

  • A Sunday evening reception, selected meals, and the SATA 2025 dinner banquet are included in the Partner Program

  • Transportation and entry fees to attractions are included in the Partner Program

  • Highlights of the Partner Program this year include: an excursion to admire the towering redwood trees at Henry Cowell State Park, a specially curated wine tasting to highlight the local vineyards, the chance to paint your own masterpiece with the guidance of an art instructor, exploring the San Jose Museum of Modern Art, and spending the day in the iconic city of San Francisco via a private tour.

Sunday Add-on Tour (June 8)

  • Attendees arriving early have the opportunity to enjoy a pre-meeting excursion to the Hiller Aviation Museum

  • Sunday Add-on Tour registration includes transportation between the Hyatt Place San Jose/Downtown hotel and the museum, as well as museum admission

  • The bus will leave the hotel at 13:00 and return at 17:00

  • Cost: $70

Friday Add-on Tour (June 13)

  • Attendees staying a day or two after the conference can soak up the sun with this post-meeting trip to Santa Cruz

  • Friday Add-on Tour registration includes transportation between the Hyatt Place San Jose/Downtown hotel and Santa Cruz

  • Two options are offered:

    • Option A: Natural Bridges State Park & Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk exploration, cost: $85

    • Option B: Santa Cruz Whale Watch & Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk exploration, cost: $185

  • The bus will leave the hotel at 08:30 and return at 17:00

Weather

  • San Jose is very pleasant in June with lots of sun and little/no rain. The average temperature during this time of year has a high of 80 degrees F (26.7 degrees C) during the day and low of 56 degrees F (13.3 degrees C) in the evening.

  • When headed toward the ocean, such as in San Francisco and Santa Cruz, the weather gets notably cooler and windier, while still remaining sunny and dry. The average San Francisco temperature in June has a high of 67 degrees F (19.4 degrees C) and a low of 53 degrees F (11.7 degrees C).

  • Transportation and entry fees to attractions will be included in the Partner Program 

  • The Partner Program is under development and will include several unique places of interest in the surrounding Bay Area and in downtown San Jose. Partner Program detailed agenda and pricing will be provided in the 2nd Meeting Announcement on February 21    

Add-on Tours 

  • An optional pre-meeting activity will be arranged for the afternoon of Sunday, June 8th 

  • An optional post-meeting day trip will be arranged for Friday, June 13th
